***Crosspost***<br />This came across my obedience club&#039;s email list.<br /><br /><br />www.louisianaboxerrescue.com/ <br /><br /> <br /><br /> <br /><br />Hello, Friends &amp; Animal Lovers -<br /><br /> <br /><br />I know I send a lot of emails asking for help with one thing or the other... well, mostly those &quot;things&quot; are dogs.&nbsp; This is a little different, in that I&#039;m not asking for help with greyhounds but it still involves dogs and people who need some help.&nbsp; Please read this whole email, because you may be able to help or know of someone who can!<br /><br /> <br /><br />Many of you know Connie Back, Boxer Rescue and good friend of GPA/LA – she and Kim Langlois, essentially, HAVE BEEN Louisiana Boxer Rescue.&nbsp; Connie is the national Boxer Rescue coordinator; she and Kim have shared responsibility for hundreds of needy boxers in Louisiana over the years.&nbsp; Connie is the moving force behind the annual “Breed Rescue Parade” which allows rescue groups of all breeds to showcase their breeds and publicize pure breed rescue.&nbsp; Space and time are insufficient to extol all of Connie’s and Kim’s many virtues, so I’ll instead explain their needs.<br /><br /> <br /><br />Earlier this week, Kim tragically suffered a cerebral aneurism; she is in the hospital in a coma and, sadly, not expected to regain consciousness or to live.&nbsp; There are about 20 boxers at Kim’s house that need adoption, foster care, boarding or transport.&nbsp; Connie is (and stays) over her limit already and can’t possibly add to, no less double, her foster load.<br /><br /> <br /><br />What can WE do?&nbsp; Let me list the possibilities:<br /><br /> <br /><br />&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Adopt a Boxer.&nbsp; Yeah, this probably sounds strange coming from a “greyhound person” but if you’ve ever had the desire to own a pet boxer, this would be the perfect time to act on that desire.&nbsp; And in case you’re wondering, I know several people who have greyhounds and boxers --- greyhounds generally get along with anything that gets along with them! <br /><br /> <br /><br />&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Foster a Boxer.&nbsp; This is also a great opportunity for those who have considered adoption but ‘aren’t quite ready’ to commit, to see how a boxer would fit into their family dynamics.&nbsp; Please keep in mind, however, this will probably not be a “few day&#039;s” commitment – you should expect to care for the dog for a few weeks or possibly months.&nbsp; The last thing Connie will need is 20 foster families calling her at Thanksgiving or Christmas to say they need to return their foster dogs!<br /><br /> <br /><br />&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Make a Donation.&nbsp; If a sufficient number of adoptive and/or foster homes isn’t found, it may be necessary to board some of the dogs.&nbsp; Sometimes “throwing money at a problem” is the perfect solution!<br /><br /> <br /><br />&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Offer to Help Transport.&nbsp; If a sufficient number of adoptive and/or foster homes isn’t found, it may be necessary to transport some of the dogs to different areas.&nbsp; Connie is a single gal, works full time and can’t take time away from her dogs and foster dogs to transport these dogs.<br /><br /> <br /><br />&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Send This e-mail to Every Animal Lover You Know, And Ask Them to Do The Same.&nbsp; Simple concept: the more people that know about this situation, the more potential help Connie and the boxers can get!&nbsp; Forward the e-mail, or print it and mail it, or just call friends with the info.&nbsp; This isn’t a situation that can “sit/stay” for too long – these are living creatures who need care and security ASAP!!!<br /><br /> <br /><br />If you can help, you can contact Connie by any of the follow methods:<br /><br /> <br /><br />e-mail:&nbsp; This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it &nbsp; at bellsouth.net (home)&nbsp; &nbsp; This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it &nbsp; at milnor.com (work)<br /><br />&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Mail:&nbsp; Connie Back, 8921 Camille Drive, River Ridge, LA 70123 (checks should be made payable to: Louisiana Boxer Rescue or LABR)<br /><br />&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Telephone:&nbsp; (cell) 504-232-9526&nbsp; (home) 504-738-5820&nbsp; (office) 504-467-9591 Ext 7672 <br /><br />Connie is a wonderful person, I am proud and blessed to call her my friend, and she really needs some help to save all of these precious boxer babies.&nbsp; I will consider every effort to help her a personal favor to me!&nbsp; <br /><br />Also, please keep Kim and her family in your prayers!!&nbsp; God Bless you all!<br /><br />Thank you!&nbsp; ---- Judi<br />
